Netflix decided that you would rather have their ideas of what you'd like to see than your own accumulated list. And maybe that's true, but maybe it isn't. In case it isn't, Slate has very kindly posted the simple instructions for getting your instant queue back.
This was one of those rare cases where someone gave me an easy solution before I even knew there was a problem.

I could never figure out what those damn things were for. When I want to watch a movie, I find it and watch it. What am I missing?
ReplyDeleteReally, it's only a way of keeping a list of movies that you hear about and don't have time for right now. I have hundreds of things on it. It's not necessary if you get to things in a timely way. I actually find that if they rec things for me and it's four stars or over, I usually like it.
ReplyDeleteI have the Netflix streaming plan, and I have noticed that the more I watch, the more the list of available movies seems to grow. This has helped, because I have never found the selection available for streaming all that good.
ReplyDeleteWell, I rated a bunch when I first started out there, so my list has always been pretty reliable. I find that if doesn't fill in the full fourth s.tar at least, though, the results are dubious.
ReplyDeleteAs with books, I have way more things listed there than I will ever possibly get to.
star, not s.tar
ReplyDeleteI haven't let myself be coopted by the system to the point where I rate movies. I'm content to let then have my credit-card number and deduct the fee each month.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fair point, but I'm pretty sure that I get a lot more out of being coopted than they get in return in this instance.
ReplyDeleteI should rate a movie or two. I have liked some of the recommendations, and been puzzled by just one or two.
ReplyDeleteI have a Kobo reader that I have rated one or two things from, and boy, is it off the mark. I'd probably actually rate more if I could ever find the page again to do it.
